A boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Eaton of York, early this week.
Mrs. Myron Osgood was somewhat under the weather early this week.
Paul Garbisch underwent a surgical operation at the Eau Claire hospital last Saturday.
Mrs. Baer spent several days early this week at Neillsville with her Ma.
Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Wonser and Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Davis drove to Neillsville Tuesday evening to attend Eastern Star meeting.
Mrs. Leland Davis will entertain the ladies of the Art Club this (Friday) afternoon.
W. J. Marsh Dry Goods Co.’s Mid-winter Clearing Sale begins Friday, January 21-26 inclusive.
Born to Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Smith of Buhl, Idaho, a pair of twins on January 2. They were formers residents of Heathville and moved west last fall.
Clara Kimball went to St. Paul yesterday on a several weeks visit to an aunt who resides there.
At the school board convention at Neillsville last week John Ure was probably the oldest member present, not in age, but in service. John has been a director of his district for 40 years.

Mrs. James O’Neill, daughter Marion and Forest Calway drove over from Neillsville Sunday afternoon and spent several hours with Mrs. Laura Brown and family.
Otto Sampe the Chili cheese and butter maker and his father-in-law E. H. Behringer transacted business here on Tuesday. This office acknowledges a pleasant call.
Mrs. Mary Huff has been sick and under the doctor’s care since late last week. Her daughter Mrs. Birtch is caring for her.
Ed. Coil and family who moved to Nebraska last fall have left there again and are back in Wisconsin, at present visiting in Rice Lake. It is rumored that they will take up their residence here again in the near future.
Mr. and Mrs. John Garbisch of Batavia, Wis., who for the past two weeks were visiting among relatives in this vicinity were tendered a very pleasant farewell party at the home of Henry Garbisch last Sunday. They left for home early this week.
The oldest horse in Clark Co. if not in the state and owned by John Ure was put to rest last Friday morning. This horse, known as "Old Charley" was a veteran of the logging road and old time horse power threshing machine. He was 38 yeas old and was always owned by the Ure family and never lost a day’s work through illness.
The pine tree has all been slain,
The iron horse can thresh the grain.
And soon will old Gabriel on his trumpet blow;
Old John ‘tis time you was coming home,
Your day of reckoning had come,
Be it bad or be it well,
The tally board will tell.
The Lynn Telephone Company held its annual meeting at the Lynn Town hall last Saturday afternoon. About 30 stockholders were present. The following officers were elected: Geo. A. Ure, president; Ervin F. Brooks, vice pres.; W. R. Happe, secretary; Henry Sternitzky, treas.; Dan Rausch, John Henning, Chas. Neinas and Wm. Wagner, directors. It was decided to repair the line running north the coming spring, also to build about 4 miles of new line from Maple Works to Kurth Corners.
Kearney Davis transacted business at Neillsville Tuesday.
The stock buyers will ship cattle and calves Tuesday morning.
J. P. Birtch the Chili shoemaker was in town Monday.,
Get after those lice now, do not feed them all winter.
Geo. Jacques of Neillsville was here Tuesday.
Miss Myrtle Knorr visited at Neillsville between trains Monday.
Carl Reichert and wife and Ferdinand Reichert went to Chili Tuesday.

Eugene Pierrelee returned to Glidden last Saturday after spending the week here with relatives and looking after his father.
Mrs. Herman Schoengarth and Mrs. R. R. Rath were visiting relatives at Sparta the latter part of last week.
Wm. Oliver left for Chatfield, Minn., last Tuesday to spend several weeks visiting his brother who resides there.

Gus Bergemann has his new light put up in front of his hotel. It gives more light than the two on the south end of town have given lately.
At a special meeting of Granton Beaver Colony the newly elected officers were installed Tuesday eve. W. W. Page and L. A. Marsh were elected delegates to the Grand Colony at Antigo.

A fair sized audience listened to Rev. Burrows’ lecture at the opera house Tuesday night. He did not say directly as to who the guilty one is in firing those shots on Dec. 25th, but in a very capable manner he traced it to the one responsible for the affray, the voter. We will say more about it in our next issue.
