Johnson, Grace (12 JUN 1948)
(From the Spooner Advocate)
At an informal ceremony performed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in this city Saturday afternoon, June 12, 1948, Miss Grace Johnson, daughter of Frank Johnson of Sarona, became the bride of Ernest Stevens of Humbird (Clark Co., Wis.). Rev. Byron Nelson read the nuptial service.
Mrs. John Grassenbacker and Howard Johnson, sister and brother of the bride, were the attendants.
A wedding supper at Ted Hagg’s Sarona House followed the ceremony. A four-tiered wedding cake was the centerpiece at the bride’s table. The bride and groom are now at home on the groom’s farm at Humbird, following a trip to the North Shore.
Among the guests at the wedding and reception were Mrs. Richard Ward and Mrs. Ed Pokorny of Sarona; Mrs. Rose Stevens, mother of the groom, of Humbird; Mrs. Clyde Norton and Mr. and Mrs. Art McLeod of Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Werner Johnson of Cumberland; Miss Daisy Stevens and Steve Kubaski of Humbird; Miss Dot Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. Rankins of Great Falls, Mont.; and Archie Stevens of Millville, Minn.
A pre-nuptial shower in honor of the bride-to-be was given at her home at Sarona the previous Wednesday evening. The guest of honor received many beautiful gifts.
