Grassman, Rudolph (July 1900 - 28 March 1910)
All members of the Fred Grassman home are in deep grief since Monday when Rudolph Grassman the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grassman was through spinal meningitis called from his earthly home to that of his Heavenly Fathers’.
The lad who would have been ten years old in July was taken suddenly ill while at school on Wednesday and going over to his brother Arthur’s place of business, stayed until his brother Alvin could come with the team and take him home a few hours later. All that love and medical skill could do was done for him; two physicians were in attendance, but the grim reaper had too firm a grip and was not to be stayed for long. The little sufferer passed into that long sleep at 7:30 o’clock Monday morning. His death is a severe low to the home circle and has cast a deep gloom over the school which he attended and where with teacher and pupils alike, he was a favorite. They in some small measure show their esteem and affection for the dear departed, presented beautiful floral tributes to further adorn the casket which contained all that was mortal of the beloved pupil and school mate.
The funeral was held from the Grant German Lutheran Church Thursday afternoon, Rev. Reiff officiating with interment in the Lynn Cemetery.
The deceased is survived by his beloved parents Mr. and Mrs. Fred Grassman, six brothers and four sisters namely; Fred who is in Washington, Albert and Henry in Dakota, Arthur, Alvin, Leo, Elsie, Esther, Emma and Alma who are at home.
