Henry Williams sold his pacer last week to parties at Nasonville.

Chas. Guk had a barn raising last Wednesday on his farm in Town of Lynn.

Elmer Selves is building a cement block house for Albert Hanks in the Town of Levis.

Wilson Mallory will preach at the Union Church here Sunday evening.

Frank Gardner cemented and plastered the interior of P. J. Kemmeter’s garage.

Floyd Winn chopped off a part of a finger with a hatchet, last week.

A ten year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Schafer near the county farm is very ill with Bright’s disease.  Dr. Ross is attending.

Mr. and Mrs. Joel Downer are rejoicing over the arrival of a little girl at their home last Saturday night.

Gust. Sachs of Haiton, Wis., is here visiting at the home of Wm. Wagner in Sauerkraut City.

Miss Flora Kurzrok is expected home tomorrow, Saturday.  She is at present in Milwaukee.

R. C. Beecher last Wednesday morning received his appointment as carrier on Route No. 4 in place of Roy Wright, resigned.

Rolla Osgood is carrying mail on Route No. 2 in place of John Wright who is enjoying a vacation.

Fred Davis will ship calves from here next Tuesday.

Webb Winn shipped a car load of potatoes this week which he bought at 20c per bushel.  Last fall farmers refused to take 40c for them.

Wm. Huntley Jr., proprietor of the Neillsville Marble and Granite Works was here on business Wed.

Mrs. L. G. Morris has been confined to her bed for the past week and under the doctor’s care.

Geo. Hart lost his driving horse last Friday.  The animal had been suffering with distemper for some time.

Miss Margaret Pierrelee goes to Milwaukee today for an extended stay.

Arthur Teatz after a several weeks stay between Milwaukee and Chicago hospitals came home from the last named place last Saturday, considerably improved in health.

P. J. Kemmeter’s new White Steamer was given a thorough test by an expert, during the snow storm last Saturday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Handt who spent the past winter here with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Albert Porath left for Lamont, N. D., last Friday where Mr. Handt has a position in a lumber yard.

Geo. Huntley returned from Fort Jackson, N. Y., late last week where he had gone about a month ago in response to news of his brother’s death.

Another cold wave and snow storm visited us the latter part of last week and probably has put the finishing touches to all that was spared a week before.  There will be few apples, plums, etc., if any, in this state, this season.  Barley and oats which in some places were more than two inches high will no doubt have to be sowed over again.

Herman Wegner and Wm. Storm were each fined $25 and costs in Circuit Court last week for selling liquor to a minor on the night of December 25^th.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bohlman and family who were here visiting at Mike Grasser’s several weeks ago and who left for Everett, Wash., in search of a new home returned from that place last week, very much disappointed.

An exchange remarks that a man can start out any day, and inside of an hour and thirty minutes he can engage a woman to work for him for life at nothing a week, while it will take two weeks of solid search to get one to work at fair wages and board.

Frank Hewett of Neillsville, our present county surveyor, is a candidate for the office of Clerk of the Court.  Frank is well known throughout the county, and he is capable of attending to the duties of the office with credit.

The Mesdames J. M. Tompkins, Ben Dudei, Laura Brown, C. E. Beeckler and F. J. Baer, with the Misses Myrtle Knorr and Margaret Pierrelee were Neillsville visitors last Monday.

Mrs. Gardner McClaflin and two sons arrived from Oklahoma late last week and are now making their home with her parents at Arpin. Gardner with a car of household goods is expected some time this week. 

Montana seems to be a great attraction for many Clark County people.  A party of eight farmers near Neillsville of which Frank Wiesner was a member, returned from there last week, each one having purchased 300 acres.

Parties wishing to have cemetery work done before Decoration Day will please notify Wm. Huntley Jr., proprietor Neillsville Marble Works, Neillsville, Wis.

Wm. Tuchscher, his brother John and John Donnerpauer are the carpenters from Nasonville who have been engaged with the building of a 36x70 foot frame hip roof barn at Geo. Frei’s the past four weeks.  Geo. did all the mason work on the foundation alone, and at odd times last summer.  The building is making a handsome addition to the Frei farm.

Will Hart and family of Nasonville have moved into Ross Paulson’s old house.  Mr. Hart is working for Ross.

Student Stelzer of the Lutheran Seminary of St. Paul, Minn., is teaching in the German Lutheran School in Pine Valley.

Traveling men that come to our town remark that we have a very pretty town.  Yes, we have a pretty town, and by the number of traveling men that come here regularly we know that we must have a business town.

Noble Downer returned from Melrose where he had spent a week fishing and visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Converse at the Fay Stratton home.  It snowed a good share of the time he was there, spoiling his fun considerably.  He left his bait with Frank who no doubt enjoyed it.  Melrose is dry.

Fred Wright asked us not to publish this until some time next December, but as it would be stale news by that time, we won’t grant his request.  Last Tuesday afternoon his wife presented him with their seventh child, a little daughter.

E. R. Wonser’s auction sale on the August Arndt farm last Wednesday was well attended and everything went at a very satisfactory price. Will Ebbe the well known auctioneer of Marshfield conducted the sale.  It pays to employ as good an auctioneer as Mr. Ebbe, for a cheap man is expensive at any rate.
