The rain Monday and Tuesday was a blessing to crops and vegetation.
Henry Williams left Tuesday on a prospecting tour through the west.
Mrs. Ed Jacobson arrived late last week from St. Paul on a visit with home folks.

Mr. and Mrs. Rice Davis of Bethel spent Sunday here with relatives and friends.
A 10-pound baby girl was born to Mr. and Mrs. Will Singer of the Town of Lynn, Monday.
Israel Fulwiler of the Town of York is very sick at present, suffering with Bright’s disease.
A good many from this vicinity took in Dode Fisk’s circus at Neillsville Monday.
Just received some nice new patterns of Japanese paper napkins at Amidon’s Drug Store
Mrs. John Rausch after a week’s visit at Marshfield returned home on Monday.
Mrs. Chas Neinas visited Neillsville friends on Tuesday.
The John Dietrich family entertained relatives from Marshfield over Sunday.
A nice line of fancy tissue shelf paper just received at Amidon’s drug store.
At a special meeting of the Mystic Worker Lodge here last Friday evening 10 new members were initiated.
Mrs. J. P. Birtch after a couple weeks visit to her mother Mrs. M. J. Huff left for her home at Duluth.
Mrs. Mary Bruley after a 12 day engagement here caring for Mrs. E. R. Wonser and baby daughter, returned to her home at Neillsville on Tuesday, Mrs. Wonser and baby being perfectly well.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hantke came home from Milwaukee on Monday. Mrs. Hantke has quite improved in health. They will spend some weeks with her mother Mrs. Hughes and other Town of Grant relatives before going to their home in Neillsville.
Mrs. Babcock of Edgerton, Wis., arrived here on a visit to her daughter Mrs. John Robinson.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Richmer of Grand Rapids spent Sunday here with Oscar Doughty and family at the Henry Williams home.
Mark Ingersoll’s mother who was here on a visit left for her home at Whitewater, Monday morning. Mark accompanied her as far as Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Mellen are visiting relatives and friends in Richland County at present before leaving for the west.
Richard Braatz and Christian Junchen went to Wausau last Sat. to attend a Lutheran Church dedication. While there they were the guests of Mr. Braatz’s brother.

Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Howe came up from Madison Saturday and made a couple days visit at C. E. Beeckler’s.
Mrs. Rob Kurth of Neillsville visited Mrs. August Schmoll and at Richard Kurth’s last Sunday.
Mrs. Geo. Brooks came home last Sunday from a several days visit with relatives at Neillsville.
Mrs. Anna Dyer came home from Chicago Saturday night and is spending this week with friends at Neillsville.
Mrs. Frank Preston and baby daughter went to Plymouth late last week for a visit to relatives.
John Lynn came up from Milwaukee late last week on a visit with the John Kintzele family and other friends. He left again on Monday for the Pacific coast on a combination business and prospecting trip.
Saturday evening, May 7th a shower was given by the Misses Gertrude and Inez Holmes for Miss Theresa Beeckler. The bride to be was the recipient of many pretty and useful presents.

Mr. and Mrs. Sid Davis spent Sunday with relatives at Grand Rapids.
Mrs. August Arndt Jr. and children will leave for their new home at Ulm, Mont., tomorrow.

Albert Davis after a few days stay here returned to Spring Valley on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Kearney Davis are keeping house during his absence.
Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Johnson with their two sons Milton and baby Willard visited Mrs. Johnson’s mother, Mrs. Watenpool, on the Ridge Sunday.
The pure bred French Percheron stallion Ambasadeur, License No. 1347, Reg. No. 50895, owned by Willis Enhelder, will be at Herman Wegner’s barn every Saturday.
Sol F. Jaseph, Sheriff for this county two years ago is again a candidate for the office at the coming primaries. Mr. Jaseph made an A. No. 1 Sheriff.

Mrs. Homer Downer, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thompson went to La Valle on Monday and attended the funeral of the late Mrs. Chas. Pugh (nee Carrie Thompson) who died at her home at that place at 4 o’clock Sunday morning after a few days illness with la grippe.

Someone who evidently had more time than sense entered D. N. Klein’s shed, removed two wheels from a wagon and carried them off. The parties returned them again though Sunday night in as good a condition as they were before. This is more of a kid’s act.
Mr. Fravert and Miss Fravert of Greenwood, brother and sister of Mrs. John Trimberger came last Friday and remained until Monday at the John Trimberger home. Mrs. Fravert and two children who came from Rib Lake the same day will remain several weeks.

Walter Moldenhauer went to Madison last Saturday and returned Monday with a 5 passenger Winton automobile. It is probably the largest and most powerful gasoline car in this neighborhood.

All those who know him will be pleased to hear that C. D. Stockwell was last week appointed superintendent for the northern division of the Omaha Railway. Mr. Stockwell was Granton’s first station agent and has since held like positions at Merrillan, Rice Lake, Chippewa Falls, Marshfield, Spooner and Itasca. His present headquarters are at Spooner. Cy’s rapid rise in the railroad world is not due to his good looks, but energy and perseverance, always bearing in mind the old saying that "The man, who seldom does more than his salary calls for, has little salary to call for."

Full directions are given for preparing Bordeaux mixture, Lime Sulphur Wash and other remedies for destroying plant enemies, both insects and diseases.
