Chili (3 June 1910)
The real estate business is still booming in Chili. Last week Jake Henning bought the Frank Young lots. John Hutt bought the hotel and this week A. W. Wendorf bought the house wherein he is living of E. R. Behringer. On Wednesday the papers were made out between August Prust and John Fraser concerning their farm and Chili property deal.
Geo. Waterman moved his family out on his A. Fraser farm. The new man arrived on Wednesday to gain residence for his license to be taken out July 1st.
L. A. Reichert went to Granton on business Wednesday morning.
New heavy rails were laid on the side track here by the combined crews of the road here, to take the place of the old light rails.
Mr. Foemmel and Miss Schlinsog were married Wednesday afternoon in the Evangelical Church.
The Decoration Day was celebrated in a befitting manner favored by good clear cool weather. The program in the hall was carried out as proposed and gave satisfaction to all that attended. The children especially did fine work and showed the result of the good training of their teacher. Instrumental and vocal music was given. The speeches by Messrs. Hallock and Hungerford were equally good. It was a day to be remembered for a long time.
A ball game was played between Heathville and a team picked up at Chili. The Chili team was not in very playable condition; consequently the score was 10 to 37 in favor of Heathville. Try it again boys!
