Schreiber, Madeline A. (Barts) (August 16, 1928 - July 31, 2011)

 

Madeline A. Schreiber, 82, Abbotsford, died Sunday, July 31, 2011, at the Continental Manor-Golden Living Center in Abbotsford.


Madeline was born August 16, 1928, to Harvey and Anna (Kropelin) Barts in Marshfield.

 

She was a graduate of Colby High School. Madeline and Kenneth Schreiber were married November 6, 1945, in Wuerzberg. They farmed together in the Town of Johnson, Marathon County, until 1972. They moved to Abbotsford in 1973, where she cleaned at the Colby Clinic and the Abbotsford City Hall. Madeline also worked at the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford, and was a great caregiver to all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, playing cards, baking and crocheting.


Madeline is lovingly survived by her children, Rodney (Carol Knetter) Schreiber Sr. of Mosinee, Galen (Marlene) Schreiber of Athens, Frank (Lynn) Schreiber of Milan, Allen (Debbie) Schreiber of Abbotsford, Marilyn Klemetson of Athens, Diane (Jamie) Schaefer of Wausau, Donna (Steve) Proft of Abbotsford, and Lori (Corey) Aichele of Willard; 22 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Lydia (Art) Weideman of Abbotsford; sister-in-law, Rosalind Kramer of Abbotsford; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Bunkelman of Athens.


She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Jan. 5, 2003; two grandsons, Derrick Schreiber and Nicholas Proft; sister, Gertrude Schmidt; and brother, Harvey Barts Jr.


Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Burial will be in Abbotsford Public Cemetery. The Reverend Daniel Hackel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Sheryl Schreiber, Deborah Miller, Jill Penk, Tina Schreiner, Melissa Shnowske, Amanda Klemetson, Tara Poland, Danielle Treankler, and Anna Aichele.


Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church.
