Mr. and Mrs. W.W. Page drove down and spent Sunday at Richard Selves’ on the Ridge.
The editorial game laws are stated in a newspaper exchange to be as follows: Book agents may be killed from Oct. 1 to Sept. 1; spring poets from March 1 to June 1; scandal mongers from April 1 to Feb. 1; umbrella borrowers from Aug. 1 to Nov. 1; also from Feb. 1 to May 1.
Miss Bertha Worchel, who holds the position of cashier in the A. Blum’s store in Neillsville, is enjoying a vacation this week visiting friends at Chili Monday and Tuesday, and spending the balance of the week with friends at Marshfield and seeing the fair.
Mr. and Mrs. Ara Lee celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary Tuesday eve, in the presence of relatives and a few intimate friends.
The new bridge near the L.A. Marsh Mill needs some more fill on the north side, the recent rains having caused the filling to settle in an unbecoming manner.
Sam Cook was in on Wednesday after a load of lumber, making preparations to build a woodshed.
Mrs. W. Scott Davis most delightfully entertained the Circle and their friends Wed. evening at 6 o’clock supper, an excellent, well cooked and daintily served meal.
The Circle will give a chicken pie supper next Wednesday eve at the A.J. Knorr home. The ladies have a beautiful quilt to dispose of and each person buying a ticket for supper will be presented with a ticket on the quilt. The person holding the lucky number will carry off the prize.
Max Opelt will give another dance one week from next Saturday night, Sept. 30th, at Lynn Park. Neuman’s Orchestra of Neillsville will furnish the music and a good time is assured.
W.P. Budge received by express a beautiful Oxford Dowe ram from Sheboygan Co., Wednesday.
Granton is to have a permanents shoe shop. John Bladel is opening one here in rooms over Kemmeter’s store next Monday. John is a good, steady, upright young man, experience and qualified for this line of business. Give him a trial.
Chili is to experience a delightful dance tomorrow night, the Marshfield orchestra furnishing the music and the Beaver Queens the supper. Dance at Fraser’s Hall. Everybody invited.
Gottlieb Nirade of Milwaukee arrived here the forepart of the week and spent the greater part of same visiting his relatives, the Riedel boys.
Mr. E.R. Wonser and sister, Mrs. Al Nonhof, were called to Unity early last week on account of the serious illness of their aged father, at whose bedside they remained until death claimed him on Saturday. Mrs. Nonhof coming home Saturday evening to make some necessary preparations for the funeral, returned to Unity Sunday, and together with her brother and the Unity relatives, accompanied the remains to Sheboygan County where they were interred on Monday.
