Heathville (29 July 1910)

Jim Tremelling’s little boy who underwent an operation at the Marshfield hospital on account of his hard hearing is improving nicely and is entirely out of danger.

If Gordon Davis doesn’t speak to you for the next six months don’t be a dog gone bit surprised. Gordon you know is the best natured and most accommodating man in the Town of Fremont, but he gets that uppercut feeling about every 3 or 4 years or we should say whenever the stork has a notion of calling at his home. This time he brought a dandy little girl.

Reinhold Guk and Chas. Kempin took the eleven o’clock train at Chili last Monday headed for Rockham, S. D.  They got as far as St. Paul when Chas. was confronted by 3 detectives, one sticking a 38 caliber revolver under his nose while the other one was reading a warrant charging him with bank robbery.  Reinhold by that time proved Charley innocent and told the detectives that the only thing he ever stole was a can of whey from Harry Eide’s cheese factory for which he is now awaiting trial.  By this time they wanted to know where Charley was born and how old he was while another searched his pockets and discovered three rings of wurst (bologna) but this wasn’t the worst of it, Guk claiming that, that was his wurst and it didn’t belong to Charley.  Then the detectives wanted to know if Charley stole the wurst from Guk.  He said no.  Charley’s eye sight was poor and the only thing he could steal was a kiss from the hired girl.

Heintown and Heathville baseball boys played last Sunday on the latter’s ball ground, the score resulting 4 to 6 in favor of the former.

Wm. Smith went to North Dakota Wednesday morning on business.
