The marriage of Jeanette Thelma Stirmel, daughter o Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stirmel of Assembly Park, Delavan, to Glenn Elmer Boss, son of Mrs. Fred Boss, Inlet Oakes, and of the late Mr. Boss, was solemnized at 2 p.m. October 6 at the Brick Baptist Church of Walworth, with the Rev. Harold O. Gronseth officiating. The double ring ceremony was used. Mrs. Ruth Wyatt played traditional wedding music on the organ and Miss Dorothy Willis sang "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer."
The bride was given in marriage by her father, wore a white floor length gown of nylon tulle and lace over satin was styled with a fitted bodice and mandarin neckline outlined with iridescent sequins. The long lace sleeves were used. The full skirt was detailed with inserts of matching lace. A very attractive beaded tiara crowned the full circular veil of imported silk illusion which was edged with an imported wide silk lace. She carried a white pearl Bible topped with a white orchid with a yellow threat, yellow roses with green ivy and white ribbon streamers with yellow rose buds on each descending from the Bible.
Miss Susan Stremel was her sister’s maid of honor and Mrs. Ruth Slack, sister of the groom, bridesmaid, both wore floor length gowns of cotillion blue net and lace jackets. The skirts were detailed with tiny ruffles. Both carried bouquets of pink carnations and rose buds, with blue net and ivy and pink ribbon streamers. Also their head pieces of pink rose buds and cotillion blue net.
Best man was the groom’s youngest brother Kenneth. Kenneth Hayes was groomsman. Dan stirmel, Sharon, cousin of the bride and Lawrence Boss brother of the groom were ushers.
For the ceremony the brides mother wore an aqua suit with matching accessories and the grooms mother wore a navy blue dress with matching accessories. Both had a corsage of white carnations and yellow baby mums.
Mrs. Darlene Boss has charge of the guest book. A reception for 300 guests was held in the church parlors, with the Friendship Class taking charge. Mrs. Ruby Harness cut and served the wedding cake.
As the young couple opened their gifts they were assisted by Miss Teresa Dewolfe, Assembly Park, Gail Gardner, Woodstock, Illinois and Carole Louise Erkfitz, Sharon, the latter a cousin of the bride.
The bride attended the Loyal high school and the groom was a graduate of Delavan high. Also serving on the Korean battlefield.
The bride works at the Oaks Mfg. Co. in Elkhorn, and the groom for A. J. Industrys in Delavan.
Mr. and Mrs. Boss are having a honeymoon in New York and will be at home in Assembly Park after that time.
