Star Corner (12 August 1910)

Mrs. August Teatz entertained the Ladies Aid Society of the Granton Lutheran Church Sunday.

Miss Elsie Breseman who has been visiting her sister at Altoona returned home Monday

Miss Ella Preston of Milwaukee is visiting her brother Frank and wife.

A large crowd attended the ball game here Sunday.

The well drillers are working at Otto Lustig’s place this week.

Frank Preston started his factory Wednesday after closing a few days while making necessary repairs on the boiler.

Rob Teatz was a Granton visitor yesterday.

Elmer Steil of Neillsville is visiting his uncle Chas Wiesner.

A number of the Star Corner young folks attended the dance at Lynn Sunday night.

August Riemer was a Granton caller on Saturday.

Sadie, Anita and Verna Bass visited at their cousin Mrs. Otto Yankee’s Sunday.

Mrs. Ernst Nitschke who has been suffering from a severe case of ivy poisoning is improving.

Mrs. Henry Riedel was in Granton Tuesday.

A game of baseball between the Star Corner boys and the Dewhurst nine was an attraction on the Corner Sunday.  The game was played on the Robert Teatz field and drew a large crowd which showed its appreciation of the game by rooting enthusiastically for the home team.  The Dewhurst boys in all their glory started the game by putting in five scores in their half of the first inning, but rattled by this start were unable to do more during the remainder of the game than to add one score to this while the Star Corner boys, believing in the old saying of "more haste, less speed" kept plugging along, brining in a total of eight scores, thus winning the game by a total of 6 to 8.  They will repeat the performance on the Dewhurst diamond in the near future.
