Piwoni, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin (65^th - 9 June 2011)

A 65^th wedding anniversary celebration in honor of Marvin and Katherine Piwoni of Gilman was hosted by their children on Saturday, May 28, at Tom and Jerry’s Ballroom, Gilman. Social hour began at 12:00 noon, with  dinner for 125 guests at 1:30 and an anniversary dance open to the public from 3;00 to 7:00 p.m. with music furnished by the Cynor Classics.

Marvin Piwoni and Katherine Peleschak were married on Sunday, June 9, 1946, at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, Lublin, WI.  Their five children and six of their eight grandchildren were present for the occasion: sons, Dr. Marvin and fiancé Kelley of Champagne, IL, James of Milwaukee and daughter, Dr. Elizabeth and husband Tyson of St. Paul, MN, Dr. Richard of Antigo and daughter Marilyn, Tom Day and sons Jim, Richard, Brian, and their friends Abbey, Megan and Alli, of Eau Claire, WI, Dr. Karilyn and Brian Lippa and daughters, Alexandra and Seraphina of Rochester, N. Y.

The only member of the original wedding party in attendance was the ring bearer, William Skapyak of Springfield, MO.  Sorry to say, all six adult attendants are deceased and the flower girl was not available.

Other distant relative guests attending were sister Ella Handa of Aurora, Gerri Manners, and Karen and Mike Jurcazak of Villa Park, Ron and Pat Peleschak of River Forest, Carl and Donna Gasiorowski of Rockford, Jim and Lorraine Weseman of Lombard, George Weseman of Chicago, Jack, Gerri and Jim Flanagan of Bolingbrook, Bonnita Skapyak of Streamwood, and Kathy Sattler of Chicago, all of Illinois; Gary and Sandy Wozniak of Tyler, MN; Pat Piwoni, son Rodney and friend from Athens, sister Irene and Edward Jasinski of Thorp, and Gene and Nancy Winninger of Canon City, CO.

A marriage blessing was given by father Thaddeus Wojcik at Holy Assumption on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Katherine and Marvin’s anniversary date is June 9, and on June 10, 2011, they became first time great-grandparents to William James Ester, son of Dr. Elizabeth and Tyson.  Two blessed events.
