Longreen, Andrew (24 AUG 1848 - 30 OCT 1905)
Died at his home in this village (Chili, Clark Co., Wis.), Monday eve, Mr. Andrew Longren, aged 58 years. Deceased was born in Sweden in 1848, left home when a lad of 8 years old and entered as apprentice on a ship where he soon became a full-fledged sailor and remained in this position until 1870 when he sailed up the Mississippi River to Black River, then followed that stream up as far as Neillsville, where he settled on a farm 5 miles southeast of that place. He there met Miss Caroline Pischer, whom he married. They lived happily on their farm until death took her from him, leaving him with 3 small children. Shortly after the death of his wife, Mr. Longreen sold his farm and took up railroading, and when the Omaha railroad was built from Merrillan to Marshfield, he became a section foreman, a position he held up to within a few weeks of his death. In 1891 he married Mary Pulpopeh of Mash Rapids, who with the 3 children, Arthur, a traveling salesman, Amanda (Mrs. Clemons), and Miss Clara at home, all by his first wife, he leaves to survive him. The funeral, with Rev. Sifert officiating, was conducted from the home at 1 o’clock yesterday afternoon, with interment in the cemetery here (Yolo).
