York Center (9 September 1910)

Farmers are busy cutting corn this week as Jack Frost will soon be here.

Election passed off very nicely Tuesday.

We are sorry to report that sister Lincoln will leave for California next week. We wish her great success.

Joe McNam, Fred Heibel, Jay Davis, Ben and Morris Turner will leave next week for a visit and pleasure trip to California.

Mrs. Bert Gullick left this week to visit friends and relatives at Dodgeville.  Her brother Leslie who has been visiting her returned to his home also.

Gertie Free is visiting friends at Neillsville this week.

Gus Garbush transacted business at Granton Tuesday.

Art Flint erected a windmill on the Hoesly farm Tuesday.

Art Garvin and his grandpa were Loyal callers Monday.

Wm. McNam who has been at Klondike the past few years is enjoying a visit with friends and relatives here.

A baby arrived at the home of Jack Young Monday morning.

We are sorry to report Al Turner improving very slowly.

School in District No. 1 opened Monday under the management of Miss Sadie Adams.

The masons are busy on the barn wall at John Dahl’s.

Joe Beal’s sister from Elk Grove returned home Wednesday after visiting a few weeks here.

Abe Vandeberg started for York Center Tuesday to vote, but found it so dry and went to Granton which was just as bad.  So he returned and drank a gallon of ice cold water and felt quite refreshed.

Dr. Christopherson of Loyal called on Mrs. Lindsley Sunday morning. She is improving.

Reynold Voight is still shining on Grand Avenue.

Joe Rondorf was a business caller at Neillsville Monday.

Ed Voight had the misfortune while riding on the roulette at Neillsville to tear his trousers and was elected to go home without one. Sorry it was so cold.

Jay Davis has changed his route now days and goes straight up.

John Young and his sister Flora are attending school at Loyal.

Art Judd called on friends at Heintown Sunday.

It is reported that Heibel & Gullick have purchased the Christie factory and will operate a cheese factory there this fall.  We wish them success.
