Will and Carl Schuelke Jr. went to Milwaukee Monday.

 

Mrs. John Fuller was quite indisposed early this week.

 

Ladies’ tailor made suits, the E. B. Radford make at Witte’s

 

Miss Bailey came over from Chili Tuesday to work for Mrs. Pete Gardner.

 

Miss Maymie Scholtz is assisting Mrs. L. G. Morris in her household duties since Monday.

 

Mrs. Chas. Chapel of Marshfield is visiting her sister Mrs. Leland Davis since Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister is spending the week at Milwaukee whiter she went on Monday.

Jesse Williams came home last week from a six weeks sightseeing trip in several of the western states.

 

Mrs. Oscar Doughty was quite indisposed and confined to her bed several days early this week.

 

Dan Rausch went to Milwaukee last night on a several days business trip.

 

Mrs. Dave Robinson of Neillsville who attended the MacBride-Williams wedding is spending a few days with Mrs. Laura Brown.

Mrs. Adolph Hoganson and three children went to Melrose Sat. on a visit to relatives.

 

The Mesdames J. M. Tompkins and L. N. Jensen came home Monday evening from a five days outing at Grand Rapids, Wis.

 

Mrs. Wm. Huntley Jr. and Mrs. Hamilton autoed over from Neillsville Sunday afternoon with Mr. Derby.

 

Beginning with next Tuesday home baked goods such as breads and cookies can be bought at L. A. Marsh’s confectionery store.

 

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Button and Fred Wonser autoed down from Unity Saturday evening and remained over next day, guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Wonser.

 

Mrs. John Kintzele is slowly recovering from her recent severe illness, typhoid fever.

 

Postmaster Van Zile and wife of Crandon spent several days here early this week at the Geo. Howard home.

 

Among those who are building silos at present are Wm. Davis, Mike Dorst, Fred Wright, Webb Winn, Guy Winn, Henry Lawson and Ross Paulson.

Bert Hicks and his crew are still at work in this neighborhood.  They finished Ross Paulson’s silo and are now engaged laying the cement walk in front of the Forest House.

A boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Snyder of Duluth, last Sunday.

A large number of friends and neighbors took the Geo. Ure household by surprise Wednesday evening, the occasion being their twentieth wedding anniversary. The evening was spent very pleasantly by all present.

 

Max Opelt will give a dance at the Lynn Park Saturday night.

 

Geo. Rose is preparing for a barn to be erected on his land east of town.

 

Miss Ethel Smith left for Evansville on Monday to attend school there this year.

 

T. C. Stockwell of The Dallas, Ore., spent Tuesday here with his sister, Mrs. F. J. Baer.

Leland Davis has accepted a position with Lang & Scharmann of Marshfield and will probably take up permanent residence there in the near future.

Mrs. Geo. Rose and daughters returned Saturday from a several weeks visit with friends in Sheboygan County.

 

Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Woodworth and daughter Ruth drove out from Neillsville and spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Hale of Lynn.  Mrs. Hale is an aunt of Mrs. Woodworth.

 

Chas. Babcock went to Stevens Point last week and accompanied his wife and mother home from there on Sat.  Mr. Babcock has recently bought a home in Neillsville and they expect to take up their residence there in the near future.

Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Warsinski of Spokane, Wash., arrived here late last week on a visit to relatives. They left Tuesday for Chicago and other points and will return later for an extended visit before returning home.

 

Langdon Nichols who last week returned from Oregon has invested in Clark County real estate again, having purchased the Norman Kidd farm just north of this village.  Mrs. Nichols did not come back with her husband as reported in last weeks issue, but is expected home the latter part of this week.

A delightful surprise party was given Mrs. Price Beeckler at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Free Converse last Saturday evening when some 29 of her friends came in a body and took them by surprise.  It was a farewell party.  Music, games and a right good eat were the chief attractions of the evening.  Mrs. Beeckler leaves for Dubuque, Iowa today, Friday, to join her husband who preceded her there a month since.

 

Kearny Davis’ met with a peculiar but painful accident last Saturday, as the result of which he was forced to resort to crutches.  He drove from here over to his brother, Albert’s farm to assist in threshing.  He un-harnessed his horse and was just leading it into the stable when it slipped and fell, the shoe of its front foot striking Kearney’s right foot in such a way as to cut a deep gash into the instep, necessitating medical assistance.  He may have to walk on crutches for several weeks.

Mr. T. R. King blind man who has experienced 90 of life’s summers, together with his son Frank came up from Fond du Lac last Saturday and made an over Sunday stay at Homer King’s; Homer bearing the relationship of son and brother respectively, to the visiting gentlemen.  From here the visitors journeyed to Minneapolis to visit Dr. King, a son of he blind man’s at that place and where it is expected the afflicted one will undergo an operation in the hopes that his sight may be restored to him.
