Van Volkenberg, Alfonzo (1881 - 18 NOV 1905)
Alfonzo Van Volkenberg of Nasonville died at his home at about 5 o’clock last Saturday evening of a cancerous growth on his abdomen. He went to Chicago sometime since with the expectation of undergoing an operation, and there learned that the growth was of such a nature that to perform a surgical operation would mean instant death, and in consequence returned without having suffered the operation, to spend the balance of his days as best he could with his devoted wife and darling baby. Mr. Van Volkenberg was a most estimable young man of but 24 summers, whose prospects in life were decidedly encouraging before the dread affliction befell him. His death has case a deep gloom over the community where he lived a much beloved and respected citizen. The funeral was held on Monday.
