Pleasant Ridge (4 June 1914)
The Aid at Mrs. Geo. Swann’s was well attended, $6.60 being taken in. They quilted the comforter which Mrs. Sarah Selves presented to the Aid.
At the school meeting Monday evening Mrs. S. Root was elected director.
Sereno Wren had a cancer removed from his lip Saturday.
Mrs. Otis Slocomb and sister, Mrs. M. Wren, spent a day of last week with Mrs. John Vine.
Mr. Carter has his barn nearly finished.
Mrs. Thos. Counsell is having her house painted and a new roof put on.
Miss Kate Kerns is at her uncle, Geo. Howard’s.
Chris Jensen came Saturday and he and his wife returned home to Taylor Monday.
Sadie Blackman closed her school at Columbia Friday and is home for the vacation.
Kurth school closed Friday with a picnic on the mound.
Alfred Schnable and Hm. Braatz each have a new automobile.
Lon Huckstead is building a sleeping porch for Geo. Wildig this week.
A colt belonging to Mrs. Blackman got into the wire fence and cut itself quite badly.
