Marth, William (21 Jan 1837 - 8 Jun 1914)

 

William Marth died on June 8th at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Weiting after an illness of several weeks duration. Deceased was born in Germany on Jan. 21, 1837, and was united in marriage to Wilhelmina Abraham on Oct. 9, 1861.  He and his wife came to this county in 1865 and settled in West Bend, where they lived for two years and then came to Clark County.  They settled on a farm in Pine Valley where they lived for several years, later moving to this city.  Mr. Marth was a fine old gentleman and was well liked by all his numerous acquaintances.  He is survived by the following children: Henry of Neillsville, Mrs. Henry Ulrich of Portland, Ore., Mrs. Aug. Marg and Mrs. John Weiting of town Pine Valley.  Also by his brothers and sister, Albert of Pine Valley, Mrs. Henry Pulz and Frank of Neillsville, and a brother of West Bend.  Twenty grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive the deceased.  The funeral was held at the Pine Valley Lutheran Church last Wednesday, services being conducted by Rev. Reiff and interment was made in the Pine Valley Cemetery where Mr. Marth’s wife was buried.
