Neff, Bill (lost driver - 1914)

At the time it happened it was a pretty touchy spot with Bill Neff and Fred Weeks, but the edge may have worn off their anger sufficiently to permit due publicity.  Bill got lost in the wilds of Trempeleau County while out with his moving picture show and drove fourteen miles out of his way until he circled back to the starting point and got away in the right direction.  When he had discovered his mistake he invented 52 new varieties of plain and fancy swearing and scattered them all over the landscape.  Dr. Weeks drove his car, Fanny, to Hixton a couple of Sundays ago and on the way home got off the road and just missed driving over the Hatfield Dam.  He says that Fannie is a good car but he doubts her ability to cross the river over that route.  He finally got home all right but in the future will not leave the choice of the road to the intelligence of Fanny.
