Lokken, Milton R. (26 FEB 1922 - 25 AUG 2011)
Milton R. Lokken, 89, of
Loyal, died on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Golden Living
Center-Three Oaks in Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11
a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in
Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate and burial will
follow in the Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted
by the Loyal American Legion Post 175.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m.
to 8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 29, 2011, at Cuddie Funeral Home in
Loyal, and at the church on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until time of
service.
Milton Richard Lokken was born on
Feb. 26, 1922, in Blair, Wis., the son of Alf and Lucy (Anderson)
Lokken. He grew up on a farm and received his education in the
Blair area.
As a young man, Milton worked was a
farmhand before enlisting in the U.S.
Navy. Milton was a proud veteran of World
War II. After his discharge, he returned to Blair and
worked for a house moving company.
Milton was united in marriage to
Helen Rude on Oct. 18, 1947, at First Lutheran Church in Blair.
They moved to the Granton area in 1949 and rented a farm. In 1951,
they bought a farm east of Loyal, which they farmed until retiring
in 1980. They sold the farm, built a home across the road, and
resided there until entering the Golden Living Center in February
2010.
Milton was a member of Trinity
Lutheran Church and the Loyal American Legion.
He had many interests, but
especially loved deer hunting, spending time in the woods, reading
the newspaper from front to back, riding motorcycle, playing
accordion, and ski jumping in his younger years.
He will be dearly missed by his
wife, Helen, of Marshfield; five children, Lana Deville of
Shreveport, La., Lila (Ed) Bergin of Sidney, Mont., Tom (Rhonda)
Lokken of Greenwood, Rhonda F. Burt of Spencer, and Scott (Connie)
Lokken of Marshfield; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren;
one brother, Clayton (Vonis) Lokken of Nevada, Iowa; one
brother-in-law, Raymond Brey of Pittsville; nieces, nephews, other
relatives and friends.
Milton was preceded in death by his
parents; one son, Marvin, on Feb. 15, 1988; one brother: Vernon
Lokken; and one sister, Adella Brey.
