Porath, Gloria R. (21 MAY 1949 - 25 AUG 2011)
Gloria R. Porath, 81, entered
eternal rest on Aug. 25, 2011, at the Bethel Center in
Arpin.
Gloria was born on Feb 28, 1930, in
the town of Lynn, Clark County, to Kenneth and Rose (Vierqutz)
Langrehr. She attended the Goldenrod School, town of Lynn, and
Immanuel Parochial in Marshfield, and also a short time at
Marshfield Senior High.
She began work at an early age,
first at Woolworth's Five and Ten, she also waitressed for
Christy's Caf? and then worked at Blum Brothers Box
Factory.
She was united in marriage to Victor
Porath on May 21, 1949, at Immanuel Lutheran Parsonage in
Marshfield, with the Rev. G.M. Krueger officiating. She and her
husband took up farming on the home farm, along with various
outside jobs. She also worked for Steinie's Club 10 in Neillsville
for 7 ? years until joining her husband at Wick Building Systems in
Marshfield. After her husband's death in 1996. she sold the farm
and moved to Granton.
She loved country life, hard work
and cooking. She also had a great love for cats. While on the farm
it was not unusual to see a dozen trailing her about.
She was preceded in death by her
husband; her parents; one brother, Lawrence, in 1989; and one
brother in infancy.
She is survived by a sister-in-law,
Joyce Johnson of Granton; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Gloria will be laid to rest beside
her husband in the Town of Lynn Cemetery, with a graveside service
at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug.30.
