Walker, Gail Lynnette (1 April 1956 - 19 August 2011)
Gail Walker, 55, of Neillsville died Friday, Aug. 19, 2011, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.
Gail Lynnette Walker was born April 1, 1956, in Marshfield, the daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Embke) Stelter. She went to school in Neillsville, where she graduated in 1974. She was united in marriage to Donald Walker Oct. 16, 1976. She was elected to the position of Clerk of Court of Clark County in November of 2002, where she remained until her passing. Prior to that she worked at the dental clinic of Marshfield; she also had 10 years in banking with the Neillsville Bank and M&I Bank of Neillsville. She then worked as a legal secretary in the Clark County District Attorney office for over 15 years beginning in March 1987.
Gail was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. She enjoyed going on vacations and motorcycle trips. She also loved to shop, bake and play with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Don; two sons, Dallas (Rebecca) Walker of Rothschild and Nicholas (Kristen) Walker of Eau Claire; and a daughter, Bethany (Mike) Zank of Neillsville; six grandchildren, Devany and Whitney Walker, Taylor and Brady Walker and Kennedy and Bailey Zank. Gail is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth Stelter of Neillsville, and siblings, Diane (Stanley) Blaskowski of Stratford, Sandra (Richard) Kren of Watertown, Frederick Stelter of Neillsville, Linda (Dan) Krehmeyer of Neillsville, Yvonne (David) Herron of Marshfield and Barbara (Mark) Cattanach of Neillsville.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Stelter.
A memorial service for Gail will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville. Pastor Timothy Biebert will officiate. Music will be provided by Sharon Nemitz, organist. Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville and will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the family, who will be making a donation to an Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
