Babcock, Darick G. (25 May 1827 - 1 October 1910)

Darick G. Babcock died last Saturday morning, October 1, 1910, after years of patient suffering with Bright’s disease.  He was born in Scott, Courtland County, N. Y. May 25, 1827.

He in consequence had seen 83 of life’s summers. Since his wife died some 12 years ago he has made his home with his daughter Angie, Mrs. Ed. Waterman where he has enjoyed such care as only loving and dutiful children give to their aged and indisposed parents.  The deceased was a man of independent nature who won his way in the world doing with his might what his hands found to do.  Though necessarily a great invalid he complained little and was very happy when well enough to help in the care of his little grandchildren.

He is survived by five children, Dean of Shortville, Elizabeth - Mrs. Tooley and Hans both of Centralia, Wash., Addie - Mrs. James Finnegan of this place and Angie - Mrs. Ed. Waterman of Shortville.  The funeral was held from the Cannonville School house at 10 a.m. Tuesday; Rev. Burrows of the Neillsville M. E. Church officiated.  The floral offerings and large attendance mutely bespoke the esteem in which the departed was held.

Card of Thanks - We wish to express our heartfelt thanks for and appreciations of the many courtesies and acts of kindness extended us by our neighbors through the sickness, death and burial of our beloved father.  Mr. and Mrs. Ed Waterman
