Riebe, Mary Jo (7 February 1956 - 5 August 2011)
Mary Jo Riebe, 55, of Barronett joined her Savior the evening of Aug. 5, 2011.
She was born Feb. 7, 1956, in Neillsville to Floyd and Joan (Amo) Short. Mary Jo was raised in Neillsville and graduated from Neillsville High School in1974.
Mary Jo attended Mid-Sate Technical Institute in Marshfield and worked as a medical assistant at the Marshfield Clinic. She later attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, earning a B. S. in zoology in 1983.
She was married in Eau Claire Aug. 16, 1982, to Roy Riebe, III. They moved back to the Cumberland area in 1985 to raise their family and keep a hobby farm. Mary Jo enjoyed gardening, raising sheep and goats, spinning their fiber and making craft items for family and friends. She also taught calligraphy, weaving, crocheting and food preservation classes. Mary Jo was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed many years singing in the choir and with the contemporary music team.
She is survived by her husband, Roy, of Barronett; one son, Karl Riebe, of Cumberland; one daughter, Leah Riebe, of Eau Claire; one brother, Bill Short, of Granton; and her dad, Floyd.
She was preceded in death by her mom, Joan Short.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 11, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cumberland, with Rev. John Miels officiating. Burial of cremains was in Lakeside Cemetery, at Cumberland.
Pallbearers were: Caleb Riebe, Cheri Sorenson, Sophia Secraw, Trevor Secraw, Josh Secraw and Clay Riebe.
Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 10, at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
