Luzinski, Victoria Louise "Vickie (19 August 1921 - 15 August 2011)

 

Victoria L. "Vickie" Luzinski, age 89, of Thorp, passed away at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire on Monday, August 15, 2011.

 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2011 at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church in Thorp. Rev. Keith Apfelbeck will officiate and burial of cremains will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Withee.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Friday, From 12 noon until time of service.

 

Victoria Louise Witkus was born on August 19, 1921 in Stanley, WI, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Ponick) Witkus.  She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Stanley area. As a young lady, Vickie moved to Illinois and worked for a while as a nanny and housekeeper.  She was united in marriage to Alex Luzinski on May 13, 1939 in Stanley.  They farmed and raised their family in the Town of Withee.  Her husband Alex died on April 9, 1983.  Vickie worked various jobs, including, Lombard & Redville Cheese Factories, Oakbrook Health & Rehab, Clark County Health Care Center for 17 years, Figi’s and The Thorp Courier. Vickie married Raymond Rogalski on December 18, 1990.  He died on January 29, 2005.  Vickie was a foster grandparent at Thorp Elementary School for children in kindergarten. 

 

Vickie was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its PCCW. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, playing cards, going to the casino, gardening, cooking, flowers, crocheting and crafts.

 

She will be dearly missed by her children: David Luzinski of Phillips, Jerry (Ruth) Luzinski of Franklin, Richard Luzinski of Thorp, and Brenda Turenne of Thorp; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leona Hazuga and Violet Bautch, both of South Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Witkus of Rochester, MN; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husbands, Alex Luzinski and Ray Rogalski; two sisters: Verna Koney and Julia Johnson; and three brothers: Steve, Louie and Alex Witkus.
