Lokken, Milton (26 FEB 1922-25 AUG 2011)

 

Milton R. Lokken, 89, Loyal, died on Thursday, Aug. 25, 2011, at the Golden Living Center-Three Oaks, Marshfield. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial will follow in the Lutheran Cemetery. Military rites were conducted by the Loyal American Legion Post #175. Pallbearers were Marvin Richardson Lokken Jr., Melanie Hubbard, Mackenzie Richardson, Elliot Imerfall, Shane Burt and Jerry Lokken. Honorary pallbearers were Roger Lokken, Lon Blaney, Terry Weyer and George Peterson.

 

Milton Richard Lokken was born on Feb. 26, 1922, in Blair, the son of Alt and Lucy (nee Anderson) Lokken. He was raised on a farm and received his education in the Blair area. As a young man, he worked as a farmhand before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. He was a proud veteran of World War ll. After his discharge he returned to Blair and work for a house moving company. He married Helen Rude on Oct. 18, 1947, at First Lutheran Church, Blair. They moved to the Granton area in 1949 and rented a farm. In 1951, they bought a farm east of Loyal, which they farmed until retiring in 1980. They sold the farm, built a home across the road, and resided there until entering the Golden Living Center in Feb. 2010. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He had many interests, but especially loved deer hunting, spending time in the woods, reading the newspaper from front to back, riding motorcycle, playing accordion, and ski jumping in his younger years.

 

He will be dearly missed by his wife, Helen, Marshfield; five children, Lana Deville, Shreveport, La., Lila (Ed) Bergin, Sidney, Mont., Tom (Rhonda) Lokken, Greenwood, Rhoda F. Burt, Spencer, and Scott (Connie) Lokken, Marshfield; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Clayton (Vonis) Lokken, Neveda, Iowa; one brother-in-law, Raymond Brey, Pittsville; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Marvin Lokken, on Feb. 15, 1988; one brother, Vrnon Lokken; and one sister, Adella Brey.
