Dehne, Raymond W. (11 JUN 1923 - 8 SEP 2011)
Raymond W. Dehne, 88, of Owen, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8,
2011 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. His funeral
service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at the First
United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Marlea Gilbert will
officiate. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 13, 2011 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen, and
Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church in
Colby. Interment will be at the First United Methodist Memorial
Garden in San Diego.
Raymond was born June 11, 1923 to
Edward and Lydia (Ortmier) in Colby. He graduated from Colby High
School and lived in Colby until 1941. When World
War II started,
Raymond moved to California and worked in an aircraft plant
approximately two-and-a-half years. He then enlisted in
the Army and served his country as a heavy machine gunner
in Italy, France, Germany and Austria. Raymond was awarded the two
Bronze Battle Stars, Victory Medal, American Theatre Ribbon,
European-African-Middle Eastern Theatre Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal,
Occupational Medal, and two service stripes.
He returned to Los Angeles and San
Diego, and worked in the funeral business for three years. Ray then
managed the San Diego City Cemetery Division for 26 years until his
retirement in 1981. Ray was united in marriage to Jacqueline Jones
on July 16, 1949 in San Diego. Jacqueline passed away May 23, 2005.
He was a member and head usher in the First United Methodist Church
in San Diego for 56 years. Raymond married his wife, Lois
(Hiebsch), on Oct. 28, 2006 at the First United Church of Christ in
Colby and moved back to Owen in 2007. He was a handyman and enjoyed
fishing and traveling.
Raymond is lovingly survived by his
wife, Lois Dehne; his son, Ronald (Sally) Dehne of La Mesa, Calif.;
his grandchildren, Michelle (Ashley) LeDuc and Michael (Marlene)
LeDuc and family; and his stepsons, Jeffery (Janet) Greschner and
family, Michael (Arlene) Greschner and family, and Phillip
Greshner.
Raymond is preceded in death by his
parents; his brothers, Arnold Dehne, Elmore Dehne and Paul Dehne;
and his sister, Gertrude Masiewicz.
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home is
assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers,
Raymond's family asks memorial to be made to Disabled Veterans of
America.
