Dums, Adolph J. (25 JAN 1919 - 10 SEP 2011)
Adolph J. Dums, 92, of Colby, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10,
2011, at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at St.
Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will
officiate.
A visitation will be held from 4
p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday Sept. 15, 2011, at the Maurina Schilling
Funeral Home in Abbotsford, and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until
the time of the service at the church in Colby.
Adolph was born back when the timber
was tall on Jan. 25, 1919, to Charles and Mary (Haider) Dums in
Park Falls. He attended Rice Lake Country School. Adolph enlisted
in the Army and served his country during World
War II in the
European Theatre.
Adolph and Delores Boxrucker were
united in marriage Sept. 24, 1941, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church
in Stetsonville. He graduated from Chicago School of Barbery and
owned and operated "Adolph's Barber Shop" in Colby until his
retirement in 1989.
Adolph was a member of St. Mary's
Catholic Church and a member of the Colby VFW Post 2227. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, and
woodworking. Most of all he enjoyed socializing and shooting the
bull with his family and friends.
Adolph is lovingly survived by his
children, Carol (Jim) Morrow of Loyal, Robert (Kathy) Dums of
Denton, N.C., Ronald Dums of South Milwaukee, Gary (Robin) Dums of
Elkhorn, Joyce (Bob) Vogel of Marshfield, Daniel (Donna Seckler)
Dums of Mukwanago, Richard (Lindy) Dums of Mt. Pleasant, N.C., and
Nicole (Kent) Christensen of Spencer, Iowa. He is further survived
by 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Adolph was preceded in death by his
parents; his wife, Delores; his sister, Hattie Aaron; his brothers,
Bill Dums, Clarence Dums and Walter Dums; and two
great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers a memorial will
be established at a later date.
