East Lynn (2 December 1910)

Harry Eide left for Minnesota last Saturday to buy some hay.

August Pusheck and family spent Sunday at L. E. Moh’s.

The writer and family had occasion to partake of a Thanksgiving dinner at E. Neinas’ of Sauerkraut City and the way that the fat goose and other eatables disappeared would have done credit to a hyena.  After the noon day meal was over, the party sat down to a game of cards, and a sip now and then of John Gund’s famous essence of highlife.

As old fat goose in Elchlipp’s flock possessed a bill as hard as rock, A man with a growl and winked like an owl; Took one snap at the feathered fowl, and now eats hash for his morning lunch, and says "to the dogs with the whole blamed bunch."

If anybody is prepared to fight a ten round battle, just ask Herman Jensen how he likes to move sewing machines.  It seems that as he was driving through the village of Lynn one day last week a friend engaged him to take a machine that he had borrowed to his residence as his better half wished to do a little sewing.  Their own being out of repair, so Herman who looks at the bright side of a thing and always ready to help a friend in need loaded the thing on his wagon safe and sound and without a scratch and had just guaranteed safe delivery or money refunded when another fellow’s horse that is of an inquisitive nature mistook the thing for a feed box and was looking for a few morsels of grain when his brain holder came in contact with the upper story and dumped the contrivance in the street a total wreck.  Herman says I could not help it, but was glad when the beastly thing was off my hands.
