Degenhardt, Henry (DEC 1899-07 DEC 1956)

 

Henry Degenhardt, 57, route two, died Friday afternoon December 7, death being caused by a heart attack, as he had not been ill and appeared to be in good health when he left home to visit a friend in Chili. His death occurred near Spokeville while driving a truck. Wheel tracks indicated that the truck had gradually left the road before entering a ditch.

 

Mr. Degenhardt was born in the town of Loyal December ? 1899 and received his education in local schools. He was married to LaVern Ryan on December 29, 1926 in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. For three and one-half years following marriage they lived on the home farm, then they moved into the city where they lived for three Years. They then left Loyal and lived on a farm near Colby for ten years. Thirteen years ago they returned to the home farm where they have since resided.

 

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society.

 

At 8 o’clock Monday evening a rosary was held at the Myre Funeral Home and at 9:30 Tuesday morning funeral services were held in St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Norbert King officiating. Interment was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Hubing, Frank Elpert, Roy Schroeder, Harry Schlingsog, William Beaver and Ray Hubing.

 

Survivors include his wife, several sons, Edwin, Greenwood; Harold, Marshfield; Roman, Chicago; Allen, James, Raymond and Ronald, at home; four daughters, Mrs. Edward (Elnora) Bowman, Alma Center; Mrs. Floyd (Jean) Upyke, Milwaukee; Carol and Arlene, at home; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Leo and Frank, Loyal; Alfred, Pittsville; and two sisters, Mrs. William Mishalski and Mrs. Leo Michalski, both of Marshfield.

 

His parents, one brother, and two grandchildren preceded him in death.
