Matuszak, Robert William (3 November 1932 - 8 September 2011) With Flag

 

Robert Matuszak, 78, of Neillsville died Thursday, Sept 8, 2011, at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.

 

Robert William Matuszak was born Nov. 3, 1932, in Chicago, the son of William Roman and Anna (Sierawski) Matuszak.   He attended school in the Town of Washburn, Clark County, and Neillsville High School.  Bob enlisted into the United States Army and served overseas in Korea.  He was united in marriage to Rogene S. Cruenke June 18, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. They raised their family in Milwaukee and retired back to Neillsville.

 

Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, keeping his yard beautiful with flowers and green grass and working with his brother in the garden.  He loved his family and loved spending time with them.  He especially enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing.

 

He is survived by his wife, Rogene; four children, Daniel (Julie) Matuszak of Cuba City, Julie Matuszak of Ellsworth, Nancy (Paul) Moran of Clarksville, TN, and Christine (Jason) Buttler of Clarksville, TN; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, John Matuszak of Neillsville; and one sister, Joan (Roger) Staffon of Hatfield.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 

A memorial service for Robert will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville.  Rev. Varkey V. Joseph will officiate.  Music will be provided by Ronald Resong, organist and St. Mary’s Choir.  Interment, with Military Honors accorded by the Neillsville Veteran’s Council, will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.  Visitation was from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday with a 6:45 p.m. prayer service at Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will also be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

 

Honorary Casketbearers are Dennis Staffon, Scott Staffon, Tom Gruenke, Gary Gruenke, Mike Gruenke and Jimmy Gruenke.
