Gross, Marie Anna (19 November 1919 - 26 August 2011)

 

Marie Anna Gross, 91, of Marshfield passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Marshfield Care Center.

 

Marie was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Santa Ana, CA, the daughter of Tony and Mary (Marek) Vobora.  She was united in marriage to Leo Gross Jan. 16, 1947, in Neillsville.  The couple farmed in Wyoming, and then in Granton before making a final moved to Neillsville where they owned and operated a new and used iron business for over 20 years.  After Leo’s death in September of 1987, Marie move to Marshfield to be close to family.

 

Marie enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling and a good crossword puzzle.  She especially enjoyed embroidering, crocheting, feeding the birds and listening to music. 

 

Marie is lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law, Ann Marie Gross of Marshfield; grandchildren, Kimberle (John) Glowacki of DeForest, Jill (Mark) Meyers of Marshfield, Holly (Jesse) Janz of Fargo, ND, Jason (Jill) Wrensch of Marshfield and Jacqueline Wrensch of Marshfield; and six great-grandchildren.  She is further survived by sisters, Agnes Gross of Hawley, MN, Josephine Bartlett of St. Cloud, WI, Angela Garbisch of Neillsville, and Libbie (Floyd) Wicklund of Durand, as well as other relatives and friends.  She will truly be missed.

 

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Tony and Mary; husband, Leo; children, Ann Marie Carden and John Gross; as well as brothers, Anton "Tony", James, Frank, George and Stanley.
