East Lynn (6 January 1911)

Arthur Schultz of Watertown is visiting his sister Mrs. H. Dietrich.

Clarence Chubb lost a valuable cow one day last week.

Dr. Ross was called to H. Dietrich Monday on account of their infant daughter being sick.

Who can solve this puzzle: If it take three able bodied men to knock the stuffing out of a dead goose, how many will it take to lay out a live gander?

C. Altenburg was busy the past week hauling sand which he intends to use next summer for a basement he is going to build under his barn.

Harry Eide, proprietor of the Banner Cheese Factory in Fremont had an ice bee last Friday.  The ice was purchased of R. Neinas of Sauerkraut City who has a pond on the O’Neill Creek.

Some of the East Lynn farmers have been getting something from Granton that seems to be nameless. Some call it goodies while others say it is the remains of Herman Jensen’s sugar beets.  One fellow said for milch cows it is of no use, but for dogs it is out of sight.  His Scotch Cooley pup which he purchased in Heathville some time ago chewed the windows out of his basement sash and all to get a few mouths full of the above mentioned life producer and nerve tonic.
