Johnson, Oney (13 FEB 1845 - 23 FEB 1906)

About 5 o’clock last Friday morning the soul of Oney Johnson left its earthly tenement for the home in heaven.  For the past 9 years Mrs. Johnson had bee a great sufferer from paralysis and he had longed to go.  He was ready and prepared.  Sixteen years ago he was baptized and made a member of the M.E. Church at York Center, a devout member who through his dark days found great comfort in reading the word of God.  Almost the last intelligent sentence he uttered was: "Let me to Thy bosom fly."

Deceased was born in Pennsylvania Feb. 13, 1845, residing there until coming to Wisconsin in March 1879.  He is survived by a wife, Nancy, and three children, namely Mrs. J.C. Canfield and Justin Johnson of this place, and Noble Johnson of New York City, besides five grandchildren.  He was of a quiet, retiring disposition, a kind husband and father, and one who will be much missed from the home circle.

The funeral was held at 2 o’clock of last Sabbath’s beautiful afternoon from the Adventist Church, Rev. Sifert officiating, with interment in the Windfall Cemetery.  All of his relatives were here and in attendance, and with the hosts of friends it was a very large funeral.
