East Lynn (20 January 1911)

Harry Jensen delivered some veal calves to Chili Tuesday morning.

Arthur Schultz after a few weeks visit with his sister Mrs. H. Dietrich returned to his home near Watertown Monday.

Some time ago a man got married to a Dutch gal and when he found out that she could not cook Kartoffel Kloessen he went on the war path and twisted the pet dog’s tail and threw the boot jack through a window, and at the same time he was guilty of a far more serious crime as he had not yet subscribed for his home paper. That is the way with a few of our neighbors.  They are up-to-date in every way, but the greatest necessity they are neglecting.  The Granton News is only one dollar a year in advance and the pleasant smile that the editor will greet you with when the __?__ changes hands is worth the price alone.

Rev. Rathke drove out and christened H. Dietrich’s baby last Friday.

Mr. A. Pusheck and daughter Lydia drove to Chili Tuesday.

Staffe froze his toes by golly.

Two young ladies thought this was leap year, so they called on a young fellow last Sunday and after a few questions about the weather and health they gave him to understand that he must take his choice between the two and as there was no way of escape the poor fellow surrendered without a struggle, but owing to his already weak condition caused by an accident that had befallen him a few days previous he was unable to decide and the event was postponed for a future date.

E. Dietrich better known in the public as Ernst is helping Adolph Pusheck cut bolts and cord wood.
