Schwartz, Albert F. (22 DEC 1872 - 12 APR 1955)

 

Albert F. Schwartz, son of the late Albert and Rose Cluff Schwartz was born on December 22, 1872 at Plymouth, Wisconsin.  He received his education there and came to Greenwood in 1892 where he worked in the woods.


On May 3, 1894, he was united in marriage to Katherine Fravert at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fravert.  After their marriage they spent 16 years in Ontonogen, Mich., where Mr. Schwartz was employed in saw mills and at logging.


In 1909, they returned to Greenwood and purchased a farm northwest of here where he resided  until a year ago.  May 3, 1944 Mr. and Mrs. Schwartz celebrated their golden wedding.  Mrs. Schwartz passed away the next day.  Mr. Schwartz passed away suddenly from a heart attack at the Owen Hospital on Tuesday, April 12, 1955 having reached the age of 82 years, 3 months and 21 days.  He was stricken with Bronchial pneumonia in January and never fully recovered.


Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 16, 1955 at the West Side Evangelical and Reformed church at 2:00 pm.  The Rev. Charles Koch officated.  Burial was made in the West Side cemetery.


During the service the choir sang "Rock of Ages" and "Jesus Lover of My Soul" accompanied by Mrs. Alvin Alberts at the organ.


The pallbearers were Alvin Brick, Wm. Decker, Walter Schwarze, Calvin Franz, Arthur Schwarze and Alvin Albert. 


He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Adeline Margaret) Osburn, three grandchildren, Joanna, Phyllis, and Rachael Osburn, Greenwood; two brothers Carl Schwartz, New Holstein and Otto Schwartz, Plymouth.


He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers and two grandchildren.
