East Lynn (27 January 1911)

We beg to inform a few of our neighbors whom we have thus far considered our friends that the next time they read the Granton News to read the whole item if they are able and not pick out a few lines here and there and then set up a great howl and inform us that East Lynn has been reflecting on their absences.  What would seem like a dark threatening cloud be nothing that a few hours might look like sunshine on a rainy day by reading the whole item. Suppose it did appear in the East Lynn news that "the happiest days of a man’s life are when he can rest in the arms of another man’s wife - his mother", if the above mentioned would not be beyond learning and blind and we may as well say thick headed besides, when they saw the last two words.  They could have seen that it was not the writer’s intention to cause any hard feeling, but some people are bound to holler before they are hurt.  Moral: Always do to others as you would have them do to you.

A social gathering took place last Sunday evening at the home of A. Pusheck, the event being Mrs. Pusheck’s birthday.  Those who were present were W. Albrecht and family, Oscar and Louis Sternitzky and Henry Dietrich and family. We sincerely hope that we have occasion to attend many more such jolly gatherings.

Among those who attended the telephone meeting at Granton last Saturday were W. Albrecht and Oscar Sternitzky.

H. Dietrich was a business caller at Marshfield Tuesday.

E. Conrad drove to Chili Tuesday and purchased a load of corn of H. Henning.

Alfred Bartz and family have moved to Rockham, S.D., last Tuesday.
