Fred W. Barr, 80 route 1, Greenwood, died last Monday night at his home, 8 miles southeast of Greenwood, after an illness of the past 1 ½ years.
Mr. Barr was born April 28, 1877, in Manchester, Iowa, and married, Mary Boehm June 19, 1904, in Strawberry Point, Iowa. He attended schools in that state and as a young man of 19 years he went to Alaska during the gold rush there.
After his return and marriage, he and Mrs. Barr operated a general store in Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) until 1912. They then farmed in Montana, going to Greenwood in 1923 to settle on the farm now occupied by their son, Fred. They moved to their present location eight years ago.
