Stumpner, Alvina (27 MAY 1880-04 APRIL 1957)

Mrs. John Stumpner, 76,, died at 3 p.m., Thursday , April 4, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Stayton.

The former Alvina Christina Braun was born in Milwaukee, May 27, 1880. When 2 years of age, she went with her parents to Brushville, where she lived until her marriage to John Stumpner in 1899. They came to Clark County where they lived on farms in the towns of Loyal and Beaver. After the death of her husband in 1953 Mrs. Stumpner made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Stayton, in the winter and in the summer she lived on the home farm with her son, Arnold.

For 58 years she was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and funeral services were held there at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 7. Burial was in the Lutheran Cemetery. The Rev. John Pfohl officiated at the services.

Pallbearers were Edd Dobbe, Fred Clouse, David Smith, Hugh Darton, Herbert Hinkleman and Dan Ellison.

The hymns, "Asleep in Jesus," and "Nearer My God to Thee", were sung by Mrs. Romaine Rossow, and the hymn, "For Me To Live is Jesus" was sung by the congregation. Miss Carol Noeldner was organist.

Besides Mrs. Stayton and Arnold Stumpner, with whom she made her home, other children surviving their mother are Paul of Janesville and Mrs. Dan (Dorothy) Anderson of Medford.

Other survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Ervin (Lena) Peters, Appleton, and Mrs. Fred (Elizabeth) Pufohl of Weyauwega; four brothers, William, Poysippi, Ernest and Louis, Waupun, and Henry, Spencer; 30 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One daughter, 3 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death.

Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fink, Arlington Heights, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Braun and Louis Braun, Waupun; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Jenson, Berlin; Mrs. Lillian Mundinger, Poysippi; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Slayton and son and Mr. John Stumpner, Milwaukee.

Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Stumpner and children, Whitewater; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Stumpner and daughter, Janesville; John Knoll, Richard Muske, and Mrs. Leonard Blaubach, Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Knoll, Colby; Mr. and Mrs. William Knoll, Wausau; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Anderson and children; and Mr. and Mrs. Marlyn Anderson, Medford; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Braun, Spencer; and Mr. and Mrs. Francis Puhfal, Weyauwega.
