C. Neinas and family of Granton spend Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R. Guk.

W are informed that two of Uncle Sam’s sheep that have been making their headquarters in this neighborhood succumbed to the hunter’s rifle last week. Perhaps were mistaken for bear as they have not yet been supplied with a red cap.

Among those who were called to give medical advice in regard to A. Sternitzky’s sick horse Monday evening were James Quicker and C. Chubb.  We are unable to state if their knowledge was helpful, but we know the game of Schafekopf was a hot one.

People who did not get a Valentine Tuesday were lucky.  We are among the unfortunate ones.

Monday morning as John Mercer was driving one of Albert Sternitzky’s teams one of the horses became suddenly very sick. A veterinary was called who pronounced it brain fever.  John says the first symptoms that he noticed was when he said whoa back, and the horse did not stop, as that is the first and only time that he disobeyed his master’s commands. The animal has been under constant care for the past few months and seemed to be very much attached to his driver, especially when John would get the lash tangled around his own neck.  At present the horse is in a precarious condition and his recovery is doubtful.

Louis Sternitzky says if a man works in a deep well a few days he is unable to stand the cold weather the rest of his life, but he says this can be prevented by one filling his pockets full of ice before he makes the descent, as that will keep up a normal temperature.

Louis Knoop and best girl attended the Masquerade dance at Chili last Saturday night.

Will Green and Louis Kleinschmidt, took in the Laemle sale at Marshfield last Friday.

Mrs. A. Lindow and daughter attended the Lutheran Church services Sunday afternoon.

August Pusheck and family spent Sunday evening with W. Albrecht’s.

Hank Jensen says the ground hog saw his shadow that means a late spring and a hot summer. That must be the reason why he is hauling ice. He evidently intends to keep cold regardless of cost, weather or ground hog.

Clarence Chubb and family were Granton callers last Saturday.
