Meyer, Arthur (15 AUG 1929 - 8 JUL 1998)

 

Arthur Meyer, 68, Mauston, WI, formerly of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), died Wednesday, July 8, 1998.

 

Art was born Aug. 15, 1929 in the Township of Reseburg, rural Thorp, to Arthur and Izabelle (Frese) Meyer.  He married Theresa Schultze Aug. 21, 1971 in Towner, ND.  He became a licensed cheese maker in 1952.  He went into the Why Drying Business in Ashland, WI in 1952, in the 1960’s he came back to the area where he worked for Winger Cheese Factory in Lublin, WI.  He later went to North Dakota and set up a cheese plant for the Winger family.  In 1972 he came back to Thorp and worked for Blue Moon Foods, where he retired.

 

Surviving are one step-daughter, Mellissa Tollefson of Thorp; two grandchildren; two brothers, Alfred (Pat) Meyer of Gilman, George (Gerri) Meyer of Minot, ND; six sisters: Lilia (Ernest) Timm of Thorp, Ellen Derks and Arlen Derks of Stanley, WI, Evelyn (Allen) Kowalczyk of Gilman, WI, Edna (Joe) Duce of St. Louis, MO, Bernadine (Jim) Kelly of East Troy, WI; and 47 nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 stepson, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

 

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 13, 1998 at Thorp Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Puerner officiating.  Burial was in Sylvan Cemetery, Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp.
