Gray, Virginia Leah (Marriage - 29 December 1962)
The United Brethren Church in Chili was the setting December 29, 1962 of the wedding of Virginia Leah Gray of Chili and Norman Kommer, Jr. of Rt. 2 Spencer. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Gray of Chili and Mr. and Mrs. Norman Kommer, Sr., of Spencer.
The Rev. L. L. McCormick performed the candlelight nuptial service before an altar adorned with poinsettias and candelabra.
For her wedding the bride wore a floor-length gown of pure silk organza and Alencon lace over peau de soie. The fitted bodice was styled with a scallop Sabrina neckline, trimmed with tiny seed pearls and sequins. Long, tapered sleeves buttoned at the wrist, and the back of the bodice was highlighted by a cabbage rose of silk organza and a long flowing train. A full crown of aurora borealis crystals and rhinestones was topped with a fingertip veil of imported silk illusion. She carried a white Bible topped with red and white roses.
Her attendants were Judy Rippentrop of Buffalo Center, Ia.; Judy Kommer of Spencer; and Sharon Gauger of Spencer. They were attired in mint green ballerina-length dresses of nylon chiffon and peau de soie over social taffeta. Their headpieces were of silk organza, trimmed with tiny pearls. They carried colonial bouquets of carnations tinted to match their ensembles.
Marie Kommer, ringbearer, was dressed like the attendants; and Roberta Gray, miniature bride, was attired in a dress identical to that of the bride.
The groom was attended by David Gray of Buffalo Center, Ia.; Ronald Wittman of Marshfield; and Douglas Gray of Chili. Ushers were Ardell Gray and Bill Kobs.
Uncle of the bride, I. L. Rippentrop, and a soloist with a choral group of Hollywood, Cal., sang, "Because" and "The Lord’s Prayer," accompanied at the organ by Marilyn Rippentrop.
The bride a graduate of Marshfield High School has been employed in a telephone office in Marshfield. Mr. Kommer graduated from the Spencer High School and attended Wausau Institute. He is an employee of a bank in Spencer. They are residing at 804A N. Central, Marshfield.
