Lee, Rev. Harry (31 DEC 1874 - 12 JAN 1958)

 

The Rev. Harry Lee, 83, who served as pastor of the Methodist Church here (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) from 1945 to 1947, died Jan. 12, 1958 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Paul Mantz, Waukesha, Wis.

 

Rev. Lee was born in London, England on Dec. 31, 1874.  Coming to the United States in his early teens, he prepared for the ministry in a theological school in New Jersey and Union Missionary Training Institute, Brooklyn, N.Y.

 

In the fall of 1901 he married the former Ruth A. Finch in London, Canada, who passed away in 1935.  Two sons also preceded him in death.

 

The Rev. Lee served pastorates in five Methodist conference in the Northeast, Oregon, Missouri, South Dakota and Wisconsin, and was a minister for more than 50 years.

 

He was married to Mrs. Grace Swim of Thorp in August 1947, who passed away in Feb. 1948.  Surviving are five children, Lucy of South Dakota, Charles and Edward of Los Angeles, Calif., Dorothy of Chicago and Edith, Mrs. Mantz of Waukesha, 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

 

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 15th by Rev. Wm. Blake of First Methodist Church at the Erling Funeral Home, Waukesha, Wis., and interment took place at North Freedom, Wis.
