Horn, Josephine (24 January 1874 - 21 January 1963)
Mrs. Josephine Horn, for many years a resident of Clark County, died in Milwaukee on January 21, just before her 89th birthday.
She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Horrell, who were one of the pioneer families of Humbird. She spent her early years as a teacher in Humbird and Thorp. After her marriage to Louis Horn, she with her husband operated a general store known as the Curtiss Mercantile Company at Curtiss. Later, Mr. Horn owned a store in Abbotsford and operated the Lone Oak Cheese Factory and store, between Withee and Thorp.
For 11 years they lived in Ladysmith, where Mr. Horn died in 1939. Mrs. Horn’s later years were spent in Milwaukee following a short sojourn in California.
In 1952 Mrs. Horn made a trip to the Philippines to visit a grandson, Ralph, who was a pilot for the Philippine Airlines, and to Japan to visit with her daughter, Vivian, who was employed there during the occupation.
Surviving are her son, Alfred, of Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. E. M. Johnson of Delta; and a daughter, Vivian, of Milwaukee; a niece, Mrs. Arnold Matti of Humbird; and a brother, George Horrell, of Oroville, Calif.
