Bertz, Cecelia (20 August 1900 - 23 January 1963)
Funeral services were conducted Monday in Berlin for Mrs. Reuben Bertz, 62, a former resident of the Town of Grant and of Loyal. She died January 23, following a heart attack. Burial was made in Berlin.
Mrs. Bertz, the former Cecelia O’Reilly, was born August 20, 1900, in Hortonville and received her education in the parochial and high school in New London. In 1917 the family moved to Clark County and located on a farm near Granton. She was a graduate of Neillsville High School and its teachers training department, and also of Stevens Point Teachers College. She taught in the Franklin and Lyons Schools in the Loyal area.
She was married to Reuben Bertz on November 14, 1921, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Neillsville. Following their marriage they farmed near Loyal. In 1953 they moved to Berlin, where they have made their home.
Mrs. Bertz is survived by her husband; eight daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Virginia) Bushnell, Lodi; Mrs. Josh (Rosemary) Sanford, Reedsburg; Mrs. Edward (Marilyn) Bogdonovich, Greenwood; Mrs. Ivern (Colleen) Kraeger, Hales Corners; Mrs. Max (Joann) Hayden, Azore Island; Mrs. Jerome (Darlene) Orroway, Berlin; Mrs. Robert (Donna) Reeves, Neshkoro; and Mrs. Gilbert (Deanna) Will, Fond du Lac; two sons, Robert Bertz of Loyal and David Bertz of Withee.
Other survivors are 31 grandchildren and the following sisters and brothers: Miss Florence O’Reilly of Marshfield; Mrs. Mary Yankee, Neillsville; Mrs. Reuben (Emma) Schultz of Shell Rock, Ia; Thomas O’Reilly of Minneapolis, Minn.; Francis, Thiensville; Vincent of Milwaukee; Lawrence, Leonard and Basil O’Reilly, all of Marshfield.
