Miss Vivian Degener is visiting with Mrs. O.F. Walters in the town of Grant, while Mr. Walters is visiting relatives at Farrington and other places.

The price of hay has been dropping steadily lately and seems to be bound on going down still more.

Mr. and Mrs. H. Montag enjoyed the visit of the parents on both sides, Mr. and Mrs. Montag from Lynn and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fenske, New Year’s Day.

Rene and Floyd Gibson had an exciting run from John Henning’s hill to Chili with their hors and cutter.  Floyd told his older brother "hold the lines tight."  He did, because he arrived at home the same time the horse did.

Dr. and Mrs. Housley entertained some relatives from the town of York on New Year’s Day.

Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Hayden moved this week onto the Clyde Shaw farm which they have rented.

The Christmas program given at the M.E. Church was attended largely.  It was very good considering the short time it was prepared in.

The volunteer firemen of Chili have organized, have purchased and received an equipment of ladders, buckets and axes, and have put up a building for same.  As soon as everything is finished there will be practice work which is very essential.  Some may think it is ridiculous, but the old maxim is always true: Prepare for war and peace is safe.  So it is true also in danger of fire.  It is easy to extinguish a small fire with small means, but after it is beyond control there is no more help.

Don’t foret to give the molasses feed sold by Degener a fair trial.  It pays to feed it if fed right.

A car of corn will be received in a few days here at Chili.
