Russell D. Reis, age 63, of Abbotsford, was called to the Lord with his family by his side Thursday, September 22, 2011, at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer.

Russell was born in Marshfield, March 6, 1948, to Dale and Alice (Schuh) Reis. He graduated from Colby High School and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

After college, Russ was drafted into the Army and served his country in the Vietnam War.

Russ was united in marriage to Janice Pflanzer on March 14, 1970, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby. Russ was a Certified Public Accountant and worked as a controller at Marawood Construction Services since 2000 and previously was a controller at Land O’Lakes for 23 years. He was formerly an Abbotsford EMT and served on the Abbotsford School Board. Russ enjoyed working, playing sheeps-head, watching the Packers, writing prayers, and was a proud military veteran. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Russ is lovingly survived by his wife, Janice; his children, Eric (Shannon) Reis of Abbotsford, Jason (Michelle) Reis of Willard, Jared Reis of Thorp, and Megan (Dustin) Lindau of Abbotsford; he is further survived by his grandchildren, Evan, Gavin, and Cashton Reis, Collin, Ethan, and Aidan Reis, and Grace Lindau; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sharon (Frank) Archambo of Abbotsford, Jerry (Gerri) Pflanzer of Colby, JoAnn (Dennis) Gonnering of Spencer, Linda (Fred) Schindler of Curtiss and Lori Voss of Abbotsford.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation was held from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. at the Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford followed by a procession to the church for the service.
