East Lynn (10 March 1911)
Last Thursday when Harry Eide’s bronco buster and mule driver was on his way to Chili with Young Americans and a few Twins his famous pacer thought he was on the race track and started to break the world’s record. The driver accidentally dropped one line from fright, thus rendered himself helpless and thought it would be safer to walk, jumped off the sleigh and let the horses shift for themselves. They were stopped at J. Hutt’s place, one horse being minus about one yard of hide.
C. Elchlepp of Chili says fun is fun, but when a fellow breaks down in a snow drift when he has got a little John Gund in two that is unable to walk that is not only aggravating, but a severe strain on the nerves.
Oscar Johnson the town treasurer drove through here Tuesday collecting taxes.
John Ure took up a collection for Geo. Hollenbach who is in the hospital at Marshfield.
Mr. and Mrs. R. Guk attended the society at C. Kampin’s last Friday.
Mrs. A. Pusheck is staying at Ernst Sternitzky’s for a few weeks.
Henry Albrecht who lives on the outskirts of Sauerkraut City sold his home place to a Mr. Portz, a brother of H. Portz, of Fremont. Mr. Portz to take possession some time the coming November.
If H. Keller’s auction would have been a few weeks later it would have been a good April fool.
Heathville is beyond control.
Albert Sternitzky cut down his big pine tree last week, the largest one in this part of the country. It was as sound as a dollar and as straight as a string. He cut eight good logs out of it.
