Grant & York Dist. 4 (Meeting - 20 March 1911)
A special school meeting will be held in Joint District No. 4, towns of Grant and York, on Monday, March 20, and notices to that effect have been posted by clerk, L. A. Marsh. It is expected that every one interested will be present, as the matter which will be brought before this meeting is of vital importance, the nature of which can best be learned from the following letter which the school board received from State Superintendent Cary following the report of Inspector Drewry: "Hire an additional teacher for the next school year and equip the remaining room, or drop eleventh grade work if the present organization is to continue. Mr. Drewry urges the organization of a union high school district with both schools that is, the union high school and the state graded school, located in the same building. With three teachers hired by the district to teach the eight grades and two teachers to instruct the pupils doing high school work, the special state aid to the union high school district would be equal to fifty percent of the cost of instruction. All resident pupils of the union high school district would not be entitled to free tuition if they attended any other high school."
