Kriese, Robert J. #2 (20 SEP 1876 - 29 JUN 1958)
Robert J. Kriese, 81 years of age, father of Mrs. Paul E. Shields, editor of the Holdingford, Minn. newspaper and former resident of Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital Sunday, June 29, 1958 at 7:30 a.m., after being a patient there for 10 days. He suffered a fractured hip after having an internal hemorrhage at his son-in-law and daughter’s home where he had lived for 9 years and 9 months, except for short times when he was at his cottage home in Avon, Minn.
He was born in Fremont, Wis., Sept. 20, 1876. On Jan. 4, 1900, he was married to Emma Kliest in West Bloomfield, Wis. She preceded him in death Sept. 17, 1947.
After his marriage they lived in Wausau, Wautoma and Milladore, Wis., until April 1, 1912, when they moved to Thorp. On April 1, 1944, they moved to Oshkosh, where he lived a year after his wife’s death.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Tiedeman, New York, N.Y., and Mrs. Paul E. Shields (Elda), Holdingford; one granddaughter, Mrs. Alvin Koerner (Patty Tiedeman), Faribault, Minn., and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters, Mrs. Max Ferg and Mrs. Albert Ferg, and one brother, Louis, all of Manwa, Wis., and one brother, Edward, Appleton, Wis., also survive.
Services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church at Wautoma, Wis., at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Edwin Dubberke officiating.
Pallbearers were all nephews, Thodore Fritz, Berlin; Martin and Paul Fritz, Wautoma; Mayford Kriese, Burnell Nemitz and Gordon Ferg, Manawa, Wis.
